The company director must provide a copy of the company's current Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) filing to prove that he is the company director. If the principal cannot attend to pick up the vehicle, you can use the Third Party Authority form to allow someone else to pick up the vehicle; however, you will still need to provide the current ASIC company statement.

These “terms of use” may include:
- a severe ground fault (vehicle needs to be prepared for pickup by a tow truck or trailer)
- a minor defect (you must follow the "terms of use" in the defect notice)
If your vehicle has a severe ground fault, we will not accept an unregistered license from VicRoads when you pick up your vehicle. It is necessary to provide a tow truck or trailer to remove the vehicle.
movable property collection

Expired vehicles to be collected and vehicles not collected
new legislation
New legislation on vehicles late in collection and vehicles not collected was implemented.
If your motor vehicle was impounded by August 24, 2021, we will store your vehicle for an additional 30 days. These additional 30 days will be counted from the date of issuance of the “Notice of intention to abandon motor vehicle”.
If your motor vehicle was impounded on or after August 25, 2021, we will hold your vehicle for an additional 14 days from the day the “Notice of Intent to Consider Abandoned Motor Vehicle” was issued.
-
If your impounded motor vehicle is still not collected after the release date, you will receive a "Notice of Intent to Consider an Abandoned Motor Vehicle".
You will have an additional 30 or 14 days (depending on when the notice was issued - see new legislation above) from the date of the notice to collect your motor vehicle from the impound location.
If you do not pick up your vehicle before office hours on the final collection date, the vehicle will become the property of the State Government (lease on crown). From this date you will no longer be able to pick up your vehicle.
-
No.
So that your vehicle is not considered "abandoned", it must be collected by the last day of the "Notice of Intent to Consider Abandoned Vehicle".
You will have an additional 30 or 14 days (depending on when the notice was issued - see new legislation above) from the date of the notice to collect your motor vehicle from the impound location.
You can request that someone pick up the vehicle on your behalf using the "Delivery of Motor Vehicle to Authorized Third Party" form. This form would have been sent to the registered operator of the vehicle within the first week after the seizure.
-
If you choose to abandon your motor vehicle, it will become the property of the State Government (crown vest) and will be disposed of.
-
You will not be required to pay for a motor vehicle left at an impound location. However, when the driver of the vehicle goes to court for the alleged offense which led to the vehicle being impounded, Victoria Police may pursue the driver in court to pay the costs of the impoundment.
-
No.
You only have an additional 30 or 14 days (depending on when the notice is issued – see the new legislation above) from the date of the notice to pick up your vehicle at the seizure location.
If you do not pick up your vehicle before business hours on the end date, the vehicle will become the property of the State Government (resides in the crown). From this date you will no longer be able to pick up your vehicle.
-
A vehicle that 'lives in the crown' becomes the property of the State Government. It will be sold at public auction or crushed.
Victoria Police do not release information about where vehicles are sold or destroyed to any party.

If you have received a "Proceeds of Sale Disbursement Letter", this means that your vehicle has been sold at public auction and the funds have yet to be paid to you.
In order to receive the funds, you will need to send an email within 14 days of the date of the letter toincautación.support@police.vic.gov.auand quote reference number H on the letter. You will also have to put in the email:
- Your full name
- your direction
- your bank details
- a copy of your current Victorian driver's license or other form of photo identification
Once we receive this email, Victoria Police will pay you the remaining funds. Please note that this may take 4-6 weeks.
-
The motor vehicle is available for collection for up to 30 or 14 days (depending on the date of issue of the notice - see new legislation above) from the date indicated in the “Notice of Intent to Consider Abandoned Motor Vehicle”.
The vehicle can only be delivered to the registered operator. The registered operator is the person to whom the vehicle is registered under VicRoads.
In order for a "subject" or third party to pick up the vehicle, you need the registered operator to sign a Third Party Authorization form. Alternatively, a court order may also allow them to collect the vehicle.
-
Victoria Police may apply to a court to impound, immobilize or impound a motor vehicle based on the driver's previous history of arrestable offences. If they do, they will send a Notice of Request for a Seizure Order or an Immobilization/Expiry Order.
Consult the headings below to determine the situation on which the Notice of Order of Seizure or Order of Immobilization/Forfeiture is based.
Result of your traffic violation history
You are receiving a "Notice of Request for Impoundment or Impoundment/Loss Order" because records show that you have a history of moving violations that qualify for an impound, immobilize, or impound order on your motor vehicle.
Result of a recent incident
You are receiving a "Notice of Request for Seizure or Impoundment/Loss Order" because your vehicle or the vehicle you were driving was previously intercepted.
As a result, the Vitória Police are legally requesting the apprehension, seizure or immobilization of said vehicle. The notice is a legal document pertaining to this application that is scheduled to be heard in court. It stipulates the date of the trial hearing and the place where the matter will be heard. The Magistrate will decide whether the motor vehicle is impounded, confiscated or immobilized.
If you receive this notice, you must not sell, transfer or dispose of your interest in the motor vehicle until the matter is finalized in court. To support this, a lock was placed on the motor vehicle to prevent transfer of ownership through VicRoads or other road corporations.
If you are the registered operator of the vehicle but do not have a prior history of arrestable offences, the claim will therefore be a result of the driver's prior driving history.
